Wisconsin teenager arrested after pursuit and crash in Horicon

HORICON, Wis. (WFRV) – An 18-year-old Wisconsin man was taken into custody Wednesday evening after leading police on a short pursuit, crashing his vehicle into multiple parked cars, and allegedly driving under the influence.

According to the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office, deputies received a report around 4:30 p.m. of an erratic driver on State Highway 33 in Horicon.

The caller reported that the vehicle had driven onto the front lawn of a residence and into oncoming traffic multiple times while traveling between Horicon and Beaver Dam.

A deputy located the vehicle just outside Beaver Dam on State Highway 33 and attempted to initiate a traffic stop. The driver, later identified as 18-year-old Devon Hambly of Horicon, immediately fled, accelerating away from the deputy.

Hambly lost control during the pursuit, crashing into a utility power box, several signs, and multiple parked cars in the parking lot of a McDonald’s.

Deputies removed Hambly from the vehicle, noting that he was uncooperative. He was eventually taken into custody. Hambly sustained non-life-threatening injuries, and no other injuries were reported.

Hambly was booked into jail on charges of eluding an officer and resisting/obstructing an officer. He was also arrested for operating while intoxicated and operating without a valid driver’s license.
