Wisconsin motorcyclist dead after reportedly rear-ending vehicle

GENEVA, Wis. (WFRV) – A 53-year-old Wisconsin motorcyclist is dead after ramming into the back of a vehicle on Saturday afternoon.

According to a release, authorities with the Walworth County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a crash involving a motorcycle and a car at the intersection of Como Rd. and Alder Dr. in Geneva.

Upon arrival, authorities found the motorcycle and car both damaged. First responders began treating the motorcyclist for his injuries, which appeared to be life-threatening.

Despite their best efforts, the motorcyclist, identified as 53-year-old Shad Volbrecht of Lake Geneva, died at the scene of the crash. The occupants of the car were uninjured.

A preliminary investigation revealed the car was stopped while waiting for oncoming traffic to clear and turn left when Volbrecht reportedly rear-ended it.

The Walworth County Sheriff’s Office Crash Reconstruction Team is investigating this incident and no additional details have been provided.
