Wisconsin DOJ: One dead after officer-involved shooting during Oshkosh stabbing incident, 2 others injured

OSHKOSH, Wis. (WFRV) – The subject of an officer-involved shooting in Oshkosh has died, authorities say, and two stabbing victims have been hospitalized following a late Tuesday night incident.

According to a release from the Wisconsin Department of Justice (DOJ), its Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) is investigating the incident that began around 11:10 p.m. on Tuesday, December 10.

Officers arrived at the 400 block of West 10th Avenue and reportedly found a stabbing victim outside of the home. Officers then entered the residence where they found the subject allegedly armed with a ‘bladed weapon.’

The release notes that the subject failed to “comply with orders” to drop the weapon, leading to one Oshkosh PD officer firing their gun, and hitting the subject.

While lifesaving measures were being performed on the person, authorities say they found a second stabbing victim inside the residence.

Both stabbing victims and the subject were taken to a local hospital, however, the subject was pronounced dead at the hospital.

According to the DOJ’s release, involved law enforcement officers have been placed on administrative leave, and all involved law enforcement officers were wearing body cameras during the incident.

DCI is continuing to review evidence and determine the facts of this incident and will turn over the investigative reports to the Winnebago County District Attorney’s office when the investigation concludes.

OSHKOSH, Wis. (WFRV) – There is currently a police presence on West 10th Avenue in Oshkosh following an officer-involved shooting that happened while authorities were responding to a stabbing.

According to the Oshkosh Police Department, officers responded to a reported stabbing late Tuesday night around 11:10 p.m. at a residence in the 400 block of West 10th Avenue.

The release notes that around 2 a.m., officers are currently in the immediate area and will be conducting an investigation for the next several hours. They say that the scene is secure and that there is no threat to the public.

The investigation is being handled by the Division of Criminal Investigation.
