UPDATE: Disabled train cleared, U.S. Highway 8 in Marinette County reopens

NIAGARA, Wis. (WFRV) – The Wisconsin Department of Transportation has announced that U.S. Highway 8 in Marinette County is reopened to motorists.

Officials have cleared the disabled train, and motorists can use the highway again in both directions.

Disabled train causes full closure of U.S. Highway 8 in Marinette County

WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 8, 2025, 6:48 P.M.

NIAGARA, Wis. (WFRV) – A disabled train has led to a full closure of U.S. Highway 8 near its intersection with U.S. Highway 141, according to the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT).

The closure began around 6:15 p.m. Wednesday, and WisDOT estimates it will take at least two hours to clear the scene. Motorists are advised to seek alternative routes until the highway reopens.
