Two people arrested following traffic stop in Fond du Lac, over 150 grams of various drugs seized

BYRON, Wis. (WFRV) – Authorities in Fond du Lac say two people were recently arrested after deputies seized over 150 grams of various drugs while conducting a traffic stop.

According to a release from the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy conducted a traffic stop at 9:56 p.m. on I-41 in the township of Byron for a vehicle with an equipment violation.

After stopping the vehicle, officials say the deputy detected the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle while talking with the driver.

Both people in the car, the driver, a 46-year-old man from Oshkosh, and a passenger, a 43-year-old man from Steven’s Point, were found to have extensive criminal histories involving the possession and distribution of illegal drugs, bail jumping, crimes involving vehicles, and other various crimes.

It was reported that neither man had a driver’s license and a records check of both men revealed that the passenger had four separate active child support warrants throughout Wisconsin while the driver had a non-extraditable warrant out of Iowa for possession of dangerous drugs.

While arresting the passenger, deputies say he admitted to having marijuana inside the vehicle leading to a more in-depth search.

The driver was removed from the vehicle and was found to have illegally possessed prescription pills in his shoe, 64 grams of cocaine in the glove box, 22 grams of marijuana and prescription pills near the center console, and a loaded extended 9mm handgun magazine in the backseat.

The driver of the vehicle, after being arrested, was found to have an additional 64 grams of cocaine and six and a half grams of ecstasy in his possession.

In total, 129 grams of cocaine, 21.4 grams of marijuana, 6.6 grams of ecstasy, U.S. currency, and various illegally possessed prescription pills were seized following the traffic stop.

The driver of the vehicle was arrested and taken to the Fond du Lac County jail on various traffic citations and the following charges:

  • Possession with Intent to Distribute Cocaine
  • Possession with Intent to Distribute Designer Drugs
  • Maintaining a Drug Trafficking Place
  • Possession of a Controlled Substances in a Correctional Facility
  • Possession of a Schedule IV Controlled Substance
  • Possession of an Illegally Obtained Prescription

The passenger of the vehicle was arrested and also taken to the Fond du Lac County jail on the four arrest warrants and the following charges:

  • Possession with Intent to Distribute Cocaine
  • Possession with Intent to Distribute THC
  • Maintaining a Drug Trafficking Place
  • Possession of an Illegally Obtained Prescription

Both men currently remain in custody at the Fond du Lac County Jail with the driver having a $15,000 cash bond and the passenger having a $10,000 cash bond.
