DOOR COUNTY, Wis. (WFRV) – Two Appleton men were rescued by the Nasewaupee Fire & Rescue while ice fishing in Door County.
According to Let’s Go Door County on Facebook, the men were out fishing and broke away from shore.

The duo drifted two miles from the shore after their 2/3 mile-long chunk of ice detached. The Facebook post added that the ride in the airboat was “sketchy” due to rough conditions.
“The biggest issue today is the winds,” Chief Deputy Pat McCarty of the Door County Sheriff’s Office said. “The bay has not completely frozen over so extreme winds are going to break pieces of ice off.”
Chief Deputy McCarty added that they’re urging people to stay off the ice at least for today due to the conditions.
