Season’s first snow late Wednesday into Thursday

The latest northeast Wisconsin weather forecast from Storm Team 5…

Some light rain will ride up our lakeshore counties this morning, but it will not impact everyone. Another disturbance could push in later this afternoon/early evening which could drop some spotty light rain/snow showers, but this will not make a huge impact on our communities.

The bigger impact will come late Wednesday night and early Thursday morning as a stronger storm system will push in our area’s first snowfall of the season! This will occur AFTER 2am and mainly BEFORE 9am Thursday. A slushy snowfall of 1 to 3 inches is possible especially around the Fox Cities and Lakeshore. We are expecting this wet snow to mainly gather on the grass and elevated surfaces, and untreated roads may get slippery or slushy as temperatures rise and snow changes to rain.

Light rain near the lakeshore Wednesday morning, then partly sunny and a little breezy after that. Temperatures hold steady in the low to mid 40s. In the afternoon, a chance for spotty rain/snow showers that is not expected to make an impact on the roads.

Mostly cloudy and breezy tonight. The wind pick up even more late as snow showers develop. Lows settle to around 32 degrees, cold enough for snow to stick for a while.

Tricky morning driving on Thursday! Not only will snow/rain fall, but gusty north winds will be up around 40 to 45 miles per hour! As temperatures rise, snow transitions to rain for a chance for scattered light rain for the second half of the day. Temperatures make it to 44 degrees after starting around the freezing mark.

Breezy on Friday with mostly cloudy skies. It’s possible a light rain shower may impact the lakeshore to the east, but it’s not a big chance at this time.

Partly sunny on Saturday and less windy! The gun-deer season opener looking nice with a high of 43 degrees.

Cloudy on Sunday with a high of 45 degrees. As of now, it looks like the northwoods could get some rain/snow showers again.
