Local 5 News helps out three northeast Wisconsin organizations during Nexstar’s Founder’s Day

GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) – WFRV-TV Local 5 News is owned by Nexstar Media Group, Inc., and on Friday, stations throughout the United States celebrated Founder’s Day.

Founder’s Day is an event where all Nexstar Stations, including Local 5 News, get out in the community to do service work. Nexstar celebrates the 28th anniversary of the company’s founding.

For Local 5 News, employees headed out Friday morning to the St. James United Methodist Church in Appleton for Vets and Friends. Local 5 General Manager Judson Beck caught up with local veterans, who told stories from Vietnam and beyond.

Following Vets and Friends, several employees at Local 5 News helped with the Aging & Disability Resource Center in Brown County. From helping with a food truck at the Brown County Central Library in Green Bay to washing windows and delivering meals, there was plenty to do.

Finally, another organization Local 5 News employees helped out with was Amanda’s House in Green Bay, which is a nonprofit organization that provides safe and supportive transitional housing for women recovering from trauma, mental health, and substance use.

Local 5 Live’s Lisa Malak and Millaine Wells were out doing yard work at the facility and say they’re proud to help such an impactful organization in northeast Wisconsin.

Additionally, Local 5 News is accepting summer clothing donations, which will be handed off to Foster The Village. Those interested in adding to the donations can drop off items at Local 5 News until Thursday.

Items include new or gently used boys’ and girls’ shorts for all sizes, girls’ t-shirts (Youth 12-18, Adult XS-XXL), tennis shoes (Kids 5, 6, 9, 11, 12, & Adults 7, 9, 10, 11), underwear (Sizes 2 T, 4, 5, 6), diapers (Sizes 4, 5, 6, or Pull-Ups sizes 2T-3T, 4T-5T), infant pajamas, and outdoor toys such as basketballs, soccer balls, footballs, and skateboards.
