Large brush fire in Suamico quickly contained after burning roughly 12 acres

SUAMICO, Wis. (WFRV) – The Suamico Fire Department is investigating a large brush fire that occurred on Tuesday in the 3100 block of Anston Road at the intersection of Northwood Road.

According to the release, the fire burned about 12 acres of land but was quickly contained by multiple local fire crews. Due to the dry conditions, officials are urging extra caution.

“The lack of snow has caused the ground to become much drier than usual,” Fire Chief Joe Bertler said via the release. “This increases the risk for brush fires which can be spread quickly if not uncontrolled.”

The Suamico Fire Department said it is actively monitoring the situation to make sure these incidents do not occur in the future.

Fire Chief Bertler added that residents should be extra cautious when handling open flames or machinery that may cause a fire. At the time of the release, no injuries have been reported.
