GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) – Authorities in Green Bay say a fire early Thursday morning on the east side of the city damaged six storage units and caused an estimated $70,000 in total damages.
According to a release from the Green Bay Metro Fire Department, crews responded at 3:45 a.m. to the 1500 block of Elizabeth Street near University Avenue for reports of a storage unit fire.
Officials told Local Five that the fire was showing through the roof of an 18-stall storage unit at Lock-Safe Storage.

Crews reportedly struggled with access to the fire and cold temperatures but were able to contain the fire to just six of the storage units on the scene.
Those six units are said to have heavy fire damage with the total estimated damages coming in at around $70,000.
Parts of University Avenue and Elizabeth Street were closed this morning while crews worked on the scene. All roads in the area have since reopened.
There is no additional information at this time and an investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing.
