Convicted felon from Illinois with active warrants arrested after police pursuit in Wisconsin, officers recover firearm

OSSEO, Wis. (WFRV) – A previously convicted felon from Illinois with active arrest warrants was arrested in Wisconsin after engaging officers in a police pursuit.

According to a Trempealeau County Sheriff’s Office release, deputies witnessed a sedan commit a speeding violation on I-94 near Osseo around 9:49 p.m. on Friday. The deputy exited the median to follow the vehicle.

The deputy attempted to perform a traffic stop; however, the sedan refused to yield, causing a police pursuit as the driver entered a business parking lot, before losing control and crashing into a parked semi-trailer.

The driver, identified as Darnell Davis of South Elgin, Illinois, was provided medical aid and taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Officers learned that Davis had active arrest warrants, and a vehicle search located a firearm as they learned he was a convicted felon.

Davis was taken to the Trempealeau County Jail on multiple charges. No additional details were provided.
