Boy Scouts of America celebrates 115th birthday, officially adopting new name

APPLETON, Wis. (WFRV) – One of the most well-known youth programs in the country, the Boy Scouts of America, is celebrating its 115th birthday on Saturday and it comes with a rebrand and new name.

Now known as Scouting America, the program has over one million members from ages five to 21 nationwide, with over 130 million people having participated in its programming since it started.

Corey Davis, the Chief Operation Officer for the Bay-Lakes Council Scouting America said that the excitement is palpable for this year’s celebration.

“We’re excited about this milestone,” Davis said. “I think the last time we did any sort of a milestone celebration was for our 100th birthday in 2010.”
