HARTLAND, Wis. (WFRV)—Authorities in southeastern Wisconsin say they arrested a school bus driver who allegedly acted erratically and refused to let kids off the bus.
According to the Hartland Police Department, on January 27 around 4:20 p.m., a 911 call came from a student on a school bus. The caller reportedly said the bus driver would not let the kids off the bus and was acting ‘erratically.’
Officials say the bus later stopped, and parents who were there to pick up their kids confronted the bus driver. The bus was ‘evacuated’ and drove away, according to the release.

Authorities ended up pulling the bus over and talking with the driver. After further investigation, the driver was arrested. He was only identified as a 72-year-old man from Hartland.
He was booked into the Waukesha County Jail and referred to the Waukesha County District Attorney’s Office for the following charges:
- Operating While Intoxicated, First Offense with a passenger under the age of 16
- Second Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety
The incident is still under investigation. No additional information was provided.
