FOND DU LAC, Wis. (WFRV) – A critical update has been released by the Fond du Lac Police Department (FDLPD) regarding a registered sex offender under supervision.
According to a Facebook post from FDLPD, authorities want the public to stay informed while searching for 55-year-old Chad A. Maertz. Authorities describe him as a white male, measuring 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighing 192 pounds. He has blond hair with a shaved/blading head and brown eyes.

Maertz reportedly has a criminal history, including a conviction for abduction of another’s child on December 18, 2002, in Fond du Lac County.
Earlier today, the FDLPD learned that Maertz cut off his GPS monitoring device, making it hard for authorities to track his location. He has left his residence at 99 W. Division Street; his current whereabouts are unknown.
The FDLPD urges the public to report any suspicious activities or sightings of Maertz or his vehicle. If he or his vehicle is seen, police say to call 911 immediately.
