7 people hospitalized after semi-truck loses control in Wisconsin

ALTOONA, Wis. (WFRV) – Authorities in western Wisconsin say seven people are in the hospital following a crash Monday evening in which a semi-truck had lost control.

According to a release from the Altoona Police Department, officers, along with deputies from the Eau Claire County Sheriff’s Office, responded around 6:00 p.m. to a multi-vehicle crash on Highway 12 near Highway 53.

Officials say a semi-truck was traveling north on the exit ramp from Highway 53 to Highway 12 when it lost control and crashed into a vehicle in both the east and westbound lanes of Highway 12.

Police report that seven people with varying injuries needed to be taken to the hospital and the westbound lanes of Highway 12 needed to be closed for several hours.

No other information is available at this time and an investigation into the crash remains ongoing by the Altoona Police Department and the Wisconsin State Patrol.
