Judge denies request to dismiss sexual assault case against Neenah District Attorney

OSHKOSH, Wis. (WFRV) – A motion to dismiss Neenah District Attorney David Rashid’s case with his ex-wife was denied by a judge on Monday morning.

Wisconsin Circuit Court records show that Rashid appeared in court with his attorney, where the two motioned to dismiss two felony charges, but Judge Mark Slate denied the request.

Rashid is facing two counts of third-degree sexual assault – domestic abuse assessments and fourth-degree sexual assault – domestic abuse assessments. The criminal charges were filed on April 30.

During the criminal charges, the city of Neenah placed Rashid on paid administrative leave pending further review and later reinstated him after an extensive internal personnel investigation found no violations pertaining to matters of the workplace.

After the declined motion, the 61-year-old district attorney will have his present bond continued and will be back in the Winnebago County Courthouse on November 11 at 11:00 a.m. for a review.

If convicted on all charges, Rashid faces up to nearly 21 years behind bars and up to $60,000 in fines.
