City of Appleton providing materials to make sandbags as precaution for future flooding

APPLETON, Wis. (WFRV) – Following heavy rainfall on July 5 across northeast Wisconsin, the City of Appleton is providing residents the chance to help prepare for a future flooding event should it occur.

From 7 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday to Friday, Appleton residents will be able to visit Memorial Park and fill empty bags with sand to be taken home. Some residents had previously spoke out about the flooding issues as cleanup continued over the weekend.

Residents who show up are required to bring bags home in their own vehicles, as the city will not be able to offer assistance with the process of filling or lifting bags.
